Increasing your party size limit is easy but slow. It is related to the ability of the Quartermaster, which is part of the Steward skill in the skill tree. Open the character bar with C and select Steward. Then click the I icon next to the portrait of your character. This will explain what Steward skill does, especially the part of the Quartermaster skill.
To increase this skill, make sure you always have two for your soldiers. It’s better to have as many different skills as possible. This not only improves morale, but also raises the skill level faster.
