Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown – The Crowning Glory of the Franchise

Prince of Persia is a game franchise that has been around since the late 1980s. The series has come a long way since its humble beginnings as a side-scrolling action platformer, with multiple reboots and sequels over the years. In 2010, Ubisoft released Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, which while received well by critics and fans alike wasn’t able to surpass the success of its predecessor, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. However, in this article we’ll talk about another game in the franchise that many deem as “The Crowning Glory” – Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.

Released in 2013 exclusively for mobile devices (i.e., iOS and Android), The Lost Crown was developed by Ubisoft Pune. Despite not getting an official release on consoles or PC, it managed to leave quite an impact on both existing fans and newcomers alike.

The story revolves around our beloved protagonist Prince who is sent on a quest to retrieve a powerful artifact known as “The Lost Crown” before it ends up in dangerous hands. Along with his love interest Princess Zara, they embark on this perilous journey across ancient ruins and mystical dungeons filled with traps and enemies.

One aspect that sets apart “The Lost Crown” from other titles in the series is its gorgeous visuals. It’s impressive how much detail Ubisoft Pune managed to fit into what was still considered at the time limited hardware –players were treated with stunning landscapes full of Persian architecture backed by an exquisite soundtrack that perfectly matches each level’s ambiance.

Furthermore, another thing worth mentioning about “The Lost Crown” is how it successfully adapts classic elements from previous titles into contemporary gameplay mechanics without feeling outdated or derivative. Whether; running along walls horizontally as if you have sticky fingers or performing gravity defying stunts while utilizing combat moves like quick-time events – all are executed beautifully through touch controls available for mobile devices.

In conclusion, despite not being as well-known as some of the other games in the franchise, partly due to its mobile-only release, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown definitely deserves more recognition for its incredible visuals, engaging storyline and smooth touch controls. With such a great game under their belt, it’s no doubt that Ubisoft Pune proved their skills when it comes to making an action-adventure masterpiece.
