The Deadline edition reported that Stephen King’s novel The Dark Half will receive a second screen version of the same name. Studio MGM decided to give the book a second chance after the unsuccessful picture of 1993, shot by George Romero.

The original film was a failure – it earned $10 million in rent against $15 million budget. The director of the new screen version is Alex Ross, who does not have a lot of work behind him.

“The Dark Half is a mystical story about a writer whose alias comes to life and begins to kill the author’s loved ones. The book became the best-selling among the works of Stephen King in the 1980s.

MGM has not yet commented on the start of the film production.
