Battle System

The battle system in Tales of Symphonia is known as the “Linear Motion Battle System” (LMBS). It is a real-time combat system that allows players to control one character while others are controlled by AI or additional players. The LMBS focuses on fast-paced, combo-based combat.

Players can perform standard attacks, which can be combined into devastating combos. They can also use special skills called “Artes” that consume Technical Points (TP). These Artes are categorized into various types such as strike, magic, and hybrid arcesia to suit different playstyles.

In addition to regular attacks and Artes, characters also have access to unique abilities called “Unison Attacks” which can be executed when a special gauge fills up during battles. Unison Attacks involve multiple characters performing a powerful attack simultaneously.

In Tales of Symphonia, players explore different areas filled with dungeons, towns, and other points of interest. The game features an open world map that connects these areas together.

Throughout their journey, players will encounter various side quests and optional activities that offer rewards such as equipment upgrades and character enhancements. NPCs (non-playable characters) provide these quests along with valuable information about the world’s lore.
