New World is the long-awaited MMORPG from Amazon Games. The release date is the end of August. The game focuses on three main factions, each struggling to colonize 17th century America. And we’ve got details on the game’s faction benefits and which faction to choose.
What the factions in New World affect – which faction to choose
There are three main factions in New World: Marauders, Syndicate, and Covenant. Although each has its own visual armor design, guild and backstory, there is no advantage in gameplay from choosing one faction over the other.
The first faction is the Marauders. They are the main military unit in the New World, and as such they boast impressive firepower. Their motivation for colonizing the American landscape is to secure the freedom of all its inhabitants. If freedom seems appealing to you, it might be worth joining the Marauders.
The latter are the ominous-sounding Syndicate, who hide in the shadows and remain out of sight. Their goal is equally honorable, as they struggle to uncover information about the new land the higher-ups are hiding. Despite their mission, however, there are no hidden benefits from joining the Syndicate faction.
The latest faction of the New World, the Covenant, is the game’s answer to Robin Hood. They want to help liberate the inhabitants of the underclass and free those who are still oppressed in the game’s new colonial landscape. Other than that, however, there is not much information about Covenant’s role.
Unfortunately, your choice of faction will only affect the appearance of your character and the guild you can join. It’s likely that the developer, represented by Amazon Games Orange County, will add more functionality and variety in the future. But at the moment, the New World factions don’t have many advantages.
