Who’s Baby Yoda from The Mandalorian and where did he come from? Answers to questions

Who is Baby Yoda from “The Mandalorian” – this question is asked by everyone who has already seen the first episodes of the series “The Mandalorian”, whose events unfold in the universe of “Star Wars”. The series shot for Disney+ has already become a hit, but the fans have about a million questions about the characters of the series, and today we will try to answer a couple of them in our material.

After the second series, in which Force – the main character of the series, there is a small, silent and greenish creature, the Internet all immediately dubbed him Baby Yoda, and the fans of “Star Wars” has a lot of questions. Despite the fact that the baby clearly belongs to the same, anonymous race as the cult master Jedi Yoda, it’s almost the only thing that became apparent after watching the first episodes of “The Mandalorian”. And the plot shows that the baby will be the central character of the first season.

Attention further down the text may meet spoilers for the series “The Mandalorian”. If you haven’t seen the first 3 episodes yet, we advise you to return to the article later.

Where did Baby Yoda come from

To answer that question, we need to look at the first episode of the show. Forsa (Pedro Pascal), the main character of the series, who is a member of the guild of bounty hunters led by Gref Cargo (Carl Weathers), has taken on perhaps one of the most difficult tasks, which can not cope with any other hunter. All that is known about the goal is that it can be found somewhere on the desert planet Arvala 7, and it is already about 50 years old.

The Mandalorian traced the award to a very secure base, where it was watched by a real platoon of armed guards. With the help of the suicide bounty hunter IG-11 (Taika Vaititi) Mando, Force was able to destroy all the defenders of the target, but was puzzled to find out that the target was just a baby. (“Species age differently,” recalls IG-11 in response to his bewilderment.)

Instead of letting IG-11 kill the baby, a mandalore man shoots a droid in the head to take the baby away. But after he gives the baby to a client (Werner Herzog), he realizes that he is very attached to the baby and cannot leave him. He decides to take his former target out of captivity and escape with the help of other Mandalorean combat forces.

We will definitely know why Baby Yoda is so important to so many ruthless people, but at the moment there is no answer to this question.

Baby Yoda

Baby Yoda received his name from Master Yoda, one of the most popular heroes of the Star Wars franchise and one of the most mysterious races in the canon of Star Wars. Nevertheless, it is known that this is not the master himself as a child, as by the time of the beginning of “The Mandalorian” Yoda has already died.

Of all this mysterious race, in addition to Yoda, Master Yaddle, the only female of this species, was represented in the films. It is not known whether the Little One is their child, a Yoda clone or an artificially created mysterious race. The only thing known is that the child, like Master Yoda, has a connection to strength.

Is Baby Yoda a boy or a girl?

Yoda’s race is extremely mysterious. As you know, George Lucas never gave him a name, wishing that the wise Master Jedi would remain a mystery for as long as possible. One thing we have known for a long time is that the members of this race are not sexless. There are male and female iodines, as we know from Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Hidden Threat.

This film introduced us to Yaddl, a representative of the Yoda family, who was a member of the Jedi High Council and even helped train the young Kwai-Gon Jinn. While everybody is wondering which sex the young Yoda is of, the series The Mandalorian secretly hints at which sex the baby is of. But the sharp-eared viewers understood the secret thanks to the seemingly unambiguous phrase of Dr. Pershing, which he said in the third episode.

While saving the baby, the handler called the baby “them”, so one mystery solved – it’s a boy!

Is Baby Yoda a young Yoda?

Of course, as soon as The Mandalorian’s baby appeared on the screens, a lot of fans wondered if Baby Yoda was young Yoda. After all, the Jedi Master was once a child, and this certainly explains the importance of the little guy for the rest of the Empire and the Uprising. Of course, if you think about it for a few minutes, you get an obvious answer – for nothing. At least, unless the species of Yoda are reincarnated.

The story “The Mandalorian” unfolds between the original trilogy of “Star Wars” and the continuation. And if you watched the last film, you should remember that Yoda became one with force, that is, he died during the events
“Star Wars. Episode VI: The Return of the Jedi.

Baby Yoda may be a clone of the late Jedi master. Notable fans note that in the promotional image with the aforementioned Dr. Pershing, he seems to be wearing a patch with an emblem that is very, very similar to the one worn by the Django Fetta clones produced on the planet Camino, which we saw with you in “Star Wars Episode II: Clone Attack”. But this may be a mistake. As all really learn only at the end of the first season of “The Mandalorian”.

What is the name of Baby Yoda

Of course, if the little dude isn’t Yoda, the question is, what’s his name? Yes, initially all the Internet called him Baby Yoda, but whether this hero has his own name, because it must be if it is not a young master Yoda.

According to Dave Filoney (who led the first and fifth episodes of the first season of The Mandalorian), this was done on purpose. Filony said: “We still want a lot of things to be kept secret, we don’t want to give answers to make these things less special. When asked if he knew what people called the baby “Baby Yoda”, he said, “That’s great! It’s all part of the mystery.
And that’s not surprising, given that we still haven’t received an answer to the question, but what’s the name of the main character in the show.

Will Baby Yoda be in Star Wars: Skywalker. Sunrise”

With the upcoming Star Wars Episode IX: Skywalker. The “sunrise” fans obviously began to wonder if the cute and pleasant appearance of the character in “The Mandalorian” makes us prepare for the appearance of Baby Yoda in the final part of the Skywalker saga.

Since the series occurs some time before the events of the new troligy, it may happen that by the time the events “Skywalker. Sunrise”, Baby Yoda will become older and appear during the film. So will Baby Yoda be in “Star Wars: Skywalker. Sunrise” – no, we do not think.

This is highly unlikely, there is no evidence that the creator and leading scriptwriter of The Mandalorian coordinated with film director J.J. Abrams, even so it would take several years of preparation.

Where did Baby Yoda’s abilities come from?

In the second episode, when “Mando” fights with an angry horned beast to get the egg that is needed by the jaws that disassembled Mondolorza’s ship. Baby Yoda uses force to lift the beast into the air and save the main character.

So, how the hell can a baby (even a 50-year-old) use the Force? Doesn’t that require super-intensive training? And yes and no. Don’t forget that, as “The Hidden Threat” shows (again, oddly enough), children can indeed be sensitive to the Force and use its power with little or no training. Consider Anakin Skywalker, whose status as one of the best racers in the galaxy as a simple teaker was achieved thanks to his insane number of midichlorians – “even higher than Master Yoda’s,” as we remember Obi-Wan Kenobi saying.

Of course, Anakin did not know how to levitate when he was a child, but we believe it is very likely that the members of the Yoda race are very sensitive to the Force, given that only the two who were introduced before the arrival of Baby Yoda were respected Jedi masters. So far, there is no clearer explanation as to where Baby Yoda’s strength comes from.

That’s all we wanted to tell you about Baby Yoda. If you still have questions, write them in the comment.
