Microsoft unveiled the new Project Scarlett console at the The Game Awards. The new console is called Xbox Series X.
The new Xbox, formerly known as Project Scarlett, will be called Xbox Series X.
The console itself was also shown, you can look at it from the trailer below, as well as the trailer for the recently announced Senua’s Saga: Hellbade 2 from the developer Ninja Theory, which, according to Xbox head Phil Spencer, was designed to take advantage of the new system.
New details about Xbox Series X
During The Game Awards, Phil Spencer took the stage and said that Series X was “our fastest and most powerful Xbox”, and it would set a new bar for performance, speed and compatibility.
Spencer also said that 15 Microsoft studios are working on “the largest and most creatively diverse line of exclusive games in our history. Apparently, the console will have about 15 games in the starting line at the top. Which is very good.
As for the controller of the new Xbox, Spencer said that the gamepad will have a button to share, which has long been asked by Xbox fans. In addition, the controller will have all the supported technologies from the old version.
Spencer also said that the size of the square console will be about the width of one gamepad and the height of three. Thus, we can assume that the console will be very compact.
The Xbox Series X will be available on New Year’s Eve 2020, but no details such as the price or characteristics of the console itself were provided during the show.
However, Microsoft previously stated that the new Xbox will be on par with the competition in power and will support Play Anywhere – there are still rumors that the second model of Xbox may already be in development. You can read more about the new Xbox in our review.
